My KWConnect FAQs:

My KWConnect is a desktop version of KWConnect that allows you to play many of KWConnect's videos directly from your desktop.  This means that you no longer need to be reliant on the Internet when showing these videos during your market center training, or on a recruiting appointment.

You may also notice that the picture and sound quality of the videos improves when you play them on My KWConnect.  Because these videos are downloaded to your computer, we are able to provide you with higher quality versions of the same great training.

Upon installation, all of the KWU supplemental videos such as CAMP 4:4:3, Lead Generation 36:12:3, and Breakthrough to Mastery will automatically be added to your My Training library.  You also have the ability to create a custom library of other KWConnect videos by using the Download Center.

Periodically, you may receive notifications that videos have been automatically downloaded to your computer.  The technology behind My KWConnect allows the Keller Williams Service Center to politely send our most important videos directly to your computer.

KWRI is paying for 3 licenses per market center (provided they subscribe to KWConnect). We envision that Team Leader, MCA, and a Trainer will be the 3 individuals to get the most impact from My KWConnect. In addition, we are giving every RD a license.

For market centers with a business center, we recommend that you consider allotting one of the licenses to the business center, and once we begin making additional licenses available to sell, consider purchasing more licenses to fully accommodate the additional location.

My KWConnect is available to all associates for a non-refundable fee of $25/year, provided the associate’s market center subscribes to KWConnect.

If I cancel my $25/year subscription, is there a refund?

The $25 - which is paid directly to Ignite Technologies, and not to Keller Williams Realty is non-refundable.  We would love to get your feedback on how to make the product more useful to you.  Please send feedback to support@kw.com.

When all associates have access, who is allowed to send out communications/training?

KWRI will be the only administrators of the product, meaning the only party that can distribute training or communications. However, this capability – of allowing market centers or associates to be able to distribute content to select groups – has been considered as a longer-term future possibility.

·         Ideally, for the first license, you want My KWConnect on a computer in the training room that the instructor tends to use. For the second license, install My KWConnect on a computer that the Team Leader will typically access during recruiting appointments. And for the third license, the MCA’s computer.

·         Pick computers that will have enough hard drive space because this computer becomes a library for KWConnect videos. We recommend 25GB of disk space to have available for the video library (especially in the case of the training room instructor computer). This space is not needed to install the product, but this is the amount of disk space that we recommend you reserve for your video library.

·         Adobe Flash Player version 9 is required to run My KWConnect.

·         Don’t select a Mac computer. My KWConnect is not compatible with Macs.

You will know your installation is complete when you get a graphic that says: "Congratulations! My KWConnect has been successfully installed on your computer". Then, click the Close button to exit the installation window, and you are all set!

Following the installation, My KWConnect immediately begins downloading the core video library to the desktop. This library consists of the KWU core curriculum that is required teaching every month. Video files are large, so this process can take a number of hours to complete.

When the core video library is ready to access/view, you'll see a pop-up with the My KWConnect logo in the bottom, right corner of your screen.

How do I start the product after it's installed?

You can start My KWConnect from the desktop icon, or from the Start Menu.

Once all content is installed, what courses will you have?

Through My KWConnect, there are two overall categories of training: core classes and supplemental videos. The core classes are KWU classes that are generally taught monthly in market centers (Camp 4:4:3, Lead Generation 36:12:3, etc). You will find these under the My Training menu, and these are the training videos that are immediately pushed to your desktop when you install My KWConnect.

The other main category – supplemental videos – includes videos that you can choose to download from the Downloads Center menu on My KWConnect. These include all KWConnect videos other than the core classes. These videos will not be pushed to your desktop, but they are available for you to pull from My KWConnect.

I am unable to access My Downloads to pull additional training content to my desktop.

We have seen this issue with computers using a firewall (i.e. Symantec, or possibly other brands). To be able to access My Downloads, you will need to disable firewall settings, or adjust them to allow the computer to communicate with the Ignite server, or select a different desktop computer (with different firewall software) to install My KWConnect. What happens when a desktop runs out of space?

  • If the computer has reached the maximum disk space allocated for downloading My KWConnect content, then nothing further can be downloaded until space is cleared off.
  • If the computer has not reached the maximum disk space allocated for downloading, but the hard drive runs out of space - after 3 failed attempts, this computer will be marked by My KWConnect as no longer eligible to receive new content.  To remedy this, free up hard drive space and then contact a My KWConnect administrator through Support@kw.com.

Yes. Although this login is not required each time you enter My KWConnect, it is required if you ever need to re-install My KWConnect on a different computer. If you misplace the ID, contact Support@kw.com.

Unfortunately, not at this time.

My KWConnect contains a Notifier that sits within the task bar. This is the mechanism by which My KWConnect notifies you of new content. KWRI has taken the position that these notifiers will only be used when there is new content that is of high priority. For these circumstances, we will be sending a pop-up that will require you to acknowledge the new download. The pop-up will continue coming back until you select View Now, View Later, or Close it.

We will only use the Notifier in cases where it is essential that you be aware of new content. Otherwise, we will deliver content in the background, without requiring any action from you.

No, the market center must subscribe to KWConnect in order for any of its associates to be able to access My KWConnect.

My Training includes the core KWU classes that are generally taught monthly in market centers (Camp 4:4:3, Lead Generation 36:12:3, etc). These are the training videos that are immediately pushed to your desktop when you install My KWConnect.

Downloads Center are the supplemental videos that you can choose to download to your desktop. These include all KWConnect videos other than the core classes. These videos will not be pushed to your desktop, but they are available for you to pull from My KWConnect.

My Downloads are the videos you have chosen to download from the Downloads Center.

No, they cannot, since the videos are in a special format readable only within the My KWConnect product.

No – content cannot be swapped within the My KWConnect application. The video files are in a proprietary (Ignite) format, not designed to be viewed outside of the My KWConnect application.

If you’re thinking of pushing the document to unlicensed computers, the answer is no. If you’re thinking of saving the MS Word, Excel, PPT, etc file and then emailing it to unlicensed computers, this can be done.

The application was made to be viewed in a smaller area, and thus you cannot maximize; however, you can maximize the screen when you're watching a video - to get the full screen effect for video viewing!

Did you delete cookies on your desktop? My KWConnect tracks download status using Internet cookies, so if these are deleted while a download is in progress, the progress indicator disappears. The course will still download, but you will not have the progress message.

I don’t receive any pop-up notification when there is new content within My KWConnect.

My KWConnect depends on the computer's acility to view pop-ups.  If a pop-up blocker is in place, this can interfere with My KWConnect's ability to notify you of new content.  To turn this off in Internet Explorer, go to Tools-Pop Up Blocker-Pop Up Blocker Settings.

When I run My KWConnect on Windows VISTA, I get the following error:

An error has occurred in the script on this page.  Automation server can't create object. URL: file:///C:/Program Files/MyKWConnect/4969020/Users/Default/Data/Custom User Interface/myKWCTraining.htm
Answer:  There is a security-related setting in Internet Explorer that needs to be adjusted on Windows VISTA.  Here are the steps:
  • Exit out of My KWConnect
  • Open Internet Explorer
  • Go to Tools - Internet Options
  • Click on the Security tab
  • Select Local Intranet
  • Click Custom level
  • Scroll down to ActiveX controls and plug-ins - Automatic prompting for ActiveX controls
  • Select disable
  • Re-open My KWConnect

Can I run My KWConnect off a server in the market center training room?

Go back to the installation link (http://admin3.cabc.com/kw) and re-install.  When you install from the same installation file, the program will not run, as your license is seen to be "disabled".  By installing from the installation link, the license is re-activated.
